Dr. Stanley L. Roberts
Conductor and Artistic Director
Stanley L. Roberts was appointed Conductor and Artistic Director of Atlanta’s premier professional chamber choir, Coro Vocati, in 2025. A passionate educator, Dr. Roberts is in his thirty-second year of teaching in the School of Music at Mercer University. Choirs under his direction have sung on numerous programs for the Georgia Music Educators Association, GA ACDA, ACDA Southern Region, and the Southern Division of NafME. With the Mercer Singers, he has led eight highly successful international tours throughout Great Britain, Eastern and Western Europe, Russia and Japan, and two solo performances in Carnegie Hall. As a conductor and clinician, he has engaged All-State Choirs, Honor Choirs, and Festival Choruses throughout the United States, England, Europe and South Africa, as well as leading choral workshops in universities, colleges, churches, and schools.
An energetic and active member of the American Choral Directors Association and NAfME, he has served in numerous leadership capacities for both organizations—including Georgia State President and President of ACDA Southern Region. A strong advocate for church music for over 40 years, he is a co-editor of the hymnal Celebrating Grace and currently serves at the First Baptist Church of Christ in Macon, GA. He is a proud alumnus of Mercer University (1984) and is married to singer/teacher Marie Jarriel Roberts (soprano).

Cynthia Smith
Collaborative Pianist
Cynthia Smith, accompanist, is passionate about teaching and collaborative piano playing. She holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin (2007) and a Bachelor of Music from Mercer University (2005). While living in Austin (2005-2017), Cynthia cultivated a private piano studio and pursued performance throughout the US and around Austin. Most frequently, she collaborated as an opera pianist by doing educational opera outreach programs, opera scenes, and fully staged operas with Austin Opera and the LOLA opera company. Cynthia now lives in Warner Robins, Georgia with her husband, daughter and silver labrador, and serves as a Collaborative Pianist at Mercer University.
